Course Overview
The First Aid at Work course is a comprehensive 3-day (18 hours) or blended learning 2-day (12 Hours) training program designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to handle a variety of workplace emergencies. The course spans 18 hours and is structured to ensure attendees leave with a solid understanding of essential first-aid practices, which can be critical in minimizing injury and saving lives.
Course Requirements
1. Eligibility:
Participants should be employees or individuals designated as first aid responders within their workplace. No prior first aid knowledge is required.
2. Attire:
Comfortable clothing is recommended as the course involves practical exercises that require movement and kneeling.
3. Materials:
All necessary materials, including first aid manuals, bandages, and practice dummies will provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes.
4. Certification:
Upon completing the course, participants will receive a First Aid at Work certification, valid for three years.

3. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use :
- Performing CPR on adults, children, and infants.
- Recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest.
- Safe use of an AED and understanding how it functions.
- Practical sessions using mannequins to simulate real-life scenarios.
4. Managing Unconscious Casualties :
- Recovery position for adults, children, and infants.
- Monitoring and reassessment of the casualty until professional help arrives.
- Handling scenarios involving fainting and seizures.
5. Treating Wounds and Bleeding :
- Types of wounds (abrasions, lacerations, punctures) and appropriate treatments.
- Controlling severe bleeding using pressure and bandaging techniques.
- Understanding the importance of preventing infection.
- Practical bandaging exercises and application of dressings.
6. Dealing with Shock :
- Recognizing the signs and symptoms of shock.
- Causes of shock and how to manage the condition.
- Practical steps to keep the casualty calm and stable.
7. Managing Fractures, Sprains, and Strains:
- Identifying different types of fractures and soft tissue injuries.
- Immobilizing and supporting the injured area.
- Using slings and other support materials correctly.
8. Burns and Scalds:
- Classification of burns by severity.
- Immediate first aid steps for thermal, chemical, and electrical burns.
- Cooling techniques and appropriate dressing of burn wounds.
9. Handling Choking Incidents :
- Recognizing signs of choking in adults, children, and infants.
- Performing back blows and abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver).
- Practical exercises to ensure confidence in dealing with choking.
10. Medical Emergencies :
- Managing asthma attacks, diabetic emergencies, and severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).
